These are some pictures from the Killers show on Tuesday at UCI! Oh. My. Gosh. It was SSSSOOOO good!! The Nervous Wreckords were their official opening band. The lead singer was really funny. They had this song called Josephine that was about a collections agent :)
Anyway, there was also a mariachi band called Mariachi El Bronx. They were four white guys and two Mexican chicks. The band wasn't bad at all, but the lead singer was painfully, obviously stoned out of his mind. You could barely understand half of what he was saying. Boo.
The Killers put on a fantastic show, opening with Spaceman followed by Somebody Told Me. As we were waiting in line, Lili and I were guessing what the opener would be and what Brandon Flowers would be wearing. I said Somebody Told Me and a jacket with feathered shoulders. She said Spaceman and a sequined jacket. She got the song right, I got the outfit right.
I sort of befriended a cougar who was concernedly obsessed with Brandon Flowers. She said that she'd been following them for four shows before that and that the UCI show was so far the best. Right now she's seeing them at the Hollywood Bowl. I dislike her.
Something kind of exciting happened during This is Your Life; a chick about 8 ft away from me threw up and the crowd made an almost perfect circle, I imagine, around it. The result was a crushing wall of human beings preventing me from capturing The Killers response to it. When the crowd started swaying and parting at first, in between verse and chorus, Brandon said something like "Are you moshing? Wait. Stop." When the crowd parted and stilled he said "Are you guys alright. Did someone throw up??" at which point Dave jumped onto the amp right in front of me (RIGHT in front of me... like 5 ft. tops!) and was trying to see if someone had. A girl was passed over the barrier to the security guard. At this point the song had been stopped midway and Brandon went on, "Is that the culprit? Do you guys want us to stop till someone can clean that up or do you want us to keep playing?" The crowd roared, Brandon Flowers laughed, and the song started right back up again like they were just on pause. The circle remained, as did the crushing wall of young men without or without enough deodorant although plenty had more than enough cologne.
They ended with All These Things That I've Done, topping off the song with confetti canons!! I really think that confetti falling at the end of any event is the greatest thing on earth.
The encore was This Is Your Life, Bones, and When You Were Young. *Sigh* so much fun!
After the show we were on a mission to meet the band. We hung around the cougar cause this wasn't her first rodeo. We were on an upper level looking down into the parking. About 10 minutes later Ronnie came out and started walking towards the buses. He was recognized and screamed at. He waved and pumped his fist in the air a few times at us while walking backward toward the bus. I didn't get a picture of that. I, like the lame photographer that I am, got a picture of him talking to a few people in the parking lot. You'll see the picture below. He's the one in the white shirt, just above the woman in the white pants so don't get confused. We watched and waved as the silver bus he climbed aboard drove past us, still waiting for the rest of the band and wondering why he was the only one on that bus. Finally a roadie told us they were all on that bus and that Ronnie was the last one out. Mission failed. It made perfect sense and we left on a mission to secure bottles of water and Slurpee's. Mission accomplished.

Okay, one more. I was so incredibly excited when he started singing this that I didn't record the first line. This was totally unexpected and amazing because this is probably my favorite song ever and it was sung on top of an amp about 7 ft to my left.

So I just looked at the videos and the quality isn't what it is on my camera! I swear, on my camera you can see every facial expression. Oh well, sorry.
